Press Release Cable Connection releases new external and internal LVD terminators
Impedance controlled termination design is first in LVD marketplace
Los Gatos, Ca 10 October 1998: Cable Connection, a leader in interconnect solutions, announces the release of two new Low Voltage Differential SCSI terminators. Built around the Dallas Semiconductor DM2118M chipset., these terminators offer the highest LVD/SE termination performance available. Cable Connection's unique impedance controlled design helps to maintain
signal-pair impedance in the terminators to within SCSI-3 tolerances in both SE and LVD modes.
"If the terminators are connected to an LVD-only bus, they will use LVD termination. If any SE devices are connected to the bus, they will use SE termination. If a high-voltage differential (HVD) device is connected to the bus, the terminators will isolate the termination from the bus. These adjustments are accomplished automatically inside the terminators by sensing voltage
on the SCSI bus DiffSens line", said Arlin Niernberger, Engineering Manager.
A DiffSens circuit determines the type of SCSI bus the terminator is being used on, LVD or single-ended, and automatically configures the termination to the appropriate bus, see NEXT.
